Build a Simple Compressed Air Cannon Powerful Enough to ...
As you read in the heading this is simple compressed air cannon which you can build with PVC pipes from your local hardware store for a couple of bucks.Warning: This is common drainage PVC pipes used in this project which is not pressure rated and charging the system above 45-50 psi can cause an explosion. The use of this video content below is at your own risk. This is a video on my YouTube channel - THE YOUNG TECH SCIENTISTAll the materials you need for this project can be found in a hardware store.-- 4 inch PVC Pipe-- 4 inch PVC End Cap-- Tire Schrader Valve-- 3/4 inch PVC / CPVC Pipe-- 3/4 inch PVC / CPVC Elbow-- 3/4 Inch PVC / CPVC Ball Valve-- If you are using all PVC pipes, only PVC cement is required. But using both PVC and CPVC pipe means both PVC and CPVC cement is required-- 5 minute setting epoxy ( to speed things up a little bit, but normal setting epoxy can be used as well )You can find detailed information on building this cannon in the video available above.STEP 1 - Lets start off by cutting the 4 inch PVC pipe to about 20 inches and clean it off with some sand paper.Step 2 - The tire schrader valve can be fixed on to any one of the 4 inch PVC end caps by drilling a hole and Pulling the valve through the hole.STEP 3 - Drill a large enough hole to fit the 3/4 inch PVC / CPVC pipe to fit through and add a little bit of epoxy to hold it in place.STEP 4 - Get the 3/4 inch elbow and glue it to the PVC / CPVC Pipe with some PVC / CPVC cement.STEP 5 - Cut the 3/4 inch pipe to 1.5 inches and make two of these. Take the first piece and glue it to the elbow and glue the 3/4 ball valve to the piece if pipe which is protruding from the 3/4 inch elbow.STEP 6 - Take the other piece of 3/4 inch pipe and glue it to the other side of the ball valve. Also be very cautious to not drop any cement into the ball valve.Step 7 - Glue another 3/4 inch elbow to the piece of 3/4 inch pipe protruding from the ball valve.step 8 - Cut a long piece of 3/4 inch pipe about 25 - 30 inches long. Now glue it to the 3/4 inch elbow.Step 9 - Check for right alignment from joint to joint and make adjustments before the cement sets.Step 10 - Now both the 4 inch end caps can be cemented to the 4 inch PVC pipe and make sure you use ample amounts of PVC cement as this is the chamber which will be pressurized.Step 11 - You might have noticed that the 3/4 inch PVC pipe is unsupported at the other end, so a piece of 3/4 inch piece of pipe can be cut to the right length to the gap between the 3/4 inch pipe ( which is the barrel of the cannon ) and the 4 inch PVC pipe (which is the Pressure chamber of the cannon). To make sure its a perfect bond, we need to increase the surface area by placing some sand paper on the 4 inch PVC pipe and rubbing the supporter 3/4 in pipe against it until the supporter pipe has the curve of the 4 inch PVC pipe, the same process should be done to the 3/4 inch barrel pipe as well. Now the supporter 3/4 inch PVC pipe can be glued in place with some epoxy or some superglue. ( there is much more detail about this step in the video placed above )STEP 12 - Let the cement set for about 24 hours and hook up a bike pump to the tire schrader valve and keep in mind to not charge the cannon above 50 PSI, and shoot on anything except living organisms or property. This cannon is no joke and can shoot ammo to incredible distances with incredible speeds! You are probably thinking to yourself "Hmmm well, that's all right but what kinds of ammo can I shoot?" And the answer to this question is in the video below!Basically you cut standard A4 sheets into 3cm long strips and you roll them into small cylinders and make sure that they are tight enough to fit in the barrel and loose enough to slide through the barrel freely, this provides the maximum speed when the bullet exits the barrel. That's it for now guys, hope you found this project interesting and waiting to see you in the next project article.Thank You for taking your time and reading till the end.Take a look on my YouTube channel - The Young Tech Scientist and click here to watch.

The original ink is a special mix to make it thicker. There is also some sort of a seal at the top of the ink. Standard ink would probably leak out into your pocket if tipped without some seal. For the low cost of pens these days, buy a new one, or a standard replacement cartridgeHow do I give my ball python a bath?get a bowl large enough for him to fit in if he were coiled up, fill it with warm water and put him in it....he might freak and leave the water, but you might find he will want to just curl up in it....only put just enough water in it that would cover his body. Whatever you do, do not force him and DON"T use soap!!! But seriously you do not need to give your snake a bath....for sheeding he only needs a rough surface like a rock or log....and digestion he needs a heated rock to lay onbillard how do you backspin the cue ball(more detail gets 10 points?Let's assume you are already playing with a decent cue that has a quality tip that is properly groomed and curved. Before getting down on your shot, while chalking your cue tip, create a vivid visualization of how your shot will unfold and what you will do to make it happen. Once you are ready, put the chalk down to signal your transition from thinking to acting. Use a closed bridge and maybe even shorten your bridge a little. Aim to hit well below center but not so far down that you risk a miscue...you will have to experiment a bit. While taking your practice strokes, visualize a final destination point for your cue tip that lies on the shot line well past the cue ball. ...it can be anywhere from two or three inches to more than a foot past the cue ball resting point, depending on the lay of the table. A good place to start while getting used to the "feel" of the shot would be six to eight inches past the cue ball. On your final backstroke, pause for a moment before moving your cue forward. The pause is important for several reasons: it signals the end of your preliminary strokes, it helps you to avoid rushing the stroke and ending up with a poking or jabbing motion, and it gives you a moment to shift your focus away from the set-up/aiming/cueing process and on to what will make the draw shot work: ACCELERATION! You need to accelerate your cue through the stroke and follow through to bring the tip of your cue to that predetermined point. This is not a pedal-to-the-metal kind of acceleration...that kind of thinking will probably result in hitting the cue ball too hard. At the moment you pause on your final backstroke, shift your focus to ensuring that your cue is actually accelerating through your stroke. Anticipate how this will feel. The pause means your stroke is beginning with velocity=0. ...do not waste that by bringing your cue up to speed too fast or you will run out of room to actually accelerate. Try to make that first inch of forward movement slower than a regular shot and then literally "bring" your cue up to speed. Visualize the length of your cue tip's path for which you will be accelerating and remember that it does not stop at the cue ball. ..the cue ball is in the middle of that path because you will still be accelerating INTO your follow through. Do not worry about stopping your cue or slowing down toward the end of your stroke...your cue is not going anywhere out of your control. Take some time to really practice this while experimenting with the variables of the shot. Learn how low you can hit the ball without miscuing. (And when you do miscue and loft the ball into the air, pu-leeze do not think THAT is a "jump shot". ..leave that for the bangers!) You should already be able to stroke straight and true...now you just need to develop the "feel" of the stroke. Simply wishing wo not make it so...you really need to set aside some time to practice this if you expect to draw reliably. When you get it to work, do not think "Oh, I've got it" and stop...keep at it and reinforce the mental and physical factors necessary for successful draw. One thing you will find is that you will get good draw action with less power than you think. Accelerating without over-powering. ..that's it in a nutshell.

My engagement ring truly got here from Costco - that's an truly effective diamond and appraised for lots better than my husband paidi have more coin ?'s is a 1856 gold quarter selling for 13,000 a good price? what about ...?I am a coin dealer. Your post is a bit confusing; for starters, the 1856 piece....do you mean "quarter eagle", or just a 25 cent piece? A regular 1856 quarter was not struck in gold, it was struck in silver.... however there were California-made fractional 25c gold coins (extremely tiny)at that time. If you mean "quarter eagle", that's a 2 1/2 dollar gold piece and can conceivably be worth that much, but only in essentially perfect condition. So basically, there's not enough info here for me to tell you anything about the 1856 coin. As for the half dollars....1874 and 1884 tell me the dates, but without seeing them or knowing lots more about them there's no way to tell the condition or exact value. Their values can range from about $10 each for well-used ones to a few grand for ultra-high grade pieces depending on a lot of different things, like where they were made (mintmark), whether the coin was a regular issue or a Proof (specimen) issue, and of course the condition of the coins. So, again, not enough info. I hear the words "mint shape" thrown around a lot...for someone who's never seen one before, any coin could seem to be in "mint" condition... I had someone call me on the phone telling me how nice their "mint" coin was; when they brought it in, it was actually a used coin that someone had polished the heck out of to make it shiny. Which brings me to another important thing...do not polish or clean your coins; you will reduce or ruin their value. Leave them as they are, and take them to a dealer to find out their value before you decide what to do with them. Hope this helped.
Diy Solar Pool Heater
Last year my Wife and I bought an above ground pool for exercise and recreation. We discovered that my Home shadows the pool in the afternoon, and that drives the water temperature down several degrees in the Spring and Fall. Since we usually don't get into the pool on Weekdays until after work, this made for some pretty chilly swims, even when the air temperature was in the 80's. I decided that a Solar heater that I could mount outside the shadow of the house would be just the thing to bring the water temperature up to more bearable levels. I took a 4x4 piece of plywood and painted it black. Then I took 200' of 1/2" vinyl irrigation hose and coiled it tightly on the plywood, using UV-resistant zip-ties to secure the hose every foot or so by drilling holes and looping the zip-tie around the hose and through the plywood. As you can see 200' doesn't completely cover the plywood, but since I was following the square edges instead of using a circular coil I ran into a problem where the hose started to kink in the corners. If you look closely at the picture you can see I still have a few kinks to literally work out. All done, and in the Sun, I took a temperature reading of the surface of the board at about 3:00 PM. The surface read about 134 degrees F. Now we've got to get that lovely heat into the pool.I put together a series of valves and "Y" adapters to route the water into the heater and then back to the pool, using the natural flow and pressure of the existing pool filter pump, instead of a separate pump. The 1/2" ball valves allow me to shut off the water to and from the solar heater and remove it once the afternoon temperatures make it unnecessary. The top is a smooth 1 1/2" "Y" adapter with a 1 1/2 to 1/2" threaded adapter in one side with a 1/2" male to male threaded nipple to a 1/2" ball valve and a 1/2" threaded to ribbed adapter that the vinyl hose slides on. I used two hose clamps on each hose fitting to avoid leaks. Sand all smooth surfaces prior to gluing to assure a good seal. IMPORTANT: Do NOT glue any threaded parts. The glue will set long before you get the threads tight. Use Plumbers Grease or Pipe Dope to seal the threads. Even Teflon tape may leak due to the high pressure. The middle valve is a smooth 1 1/2" ball valve glued to a short piece of 1 1/2" PVC on both sides. By partially closing this valve the pressure will divert some water out of the top "Y" adapter to the solar heater panel. The bottom of the assembly is pretty much a mirror image of the top. A ribbed to 1/2' threaded adapter to a 1/2' threaded ball valve, to a threaded 1/2" to 1/2" nipple, to a 1 1/2" smooth adapter, to a smooth 1 1/2" "Y". The flow of the water down the 1 1/2" PVC pipe through the 1 1/2" ball valve will draw the water from the solar heater into the water that flows into the pool. If the water were allowed to constantly flow through the solar heater, the hundreds of gallons of cold water in the pool would overwhelm the 10 or so gallons of water in the solar heater. It simply wouldn't have enough time to heat up before it got sent to the pool. To solve this I installed an outdoor timer to my pool pump. The pump still runs several hours a day to filter the pool, but from Noon until about 6:00 PM the timer turns the pump on and off at 1/2 hour intervals. This gives the water in the solar heater time to heat up before it goes into the pool. As you can see, the water flowing into the pool when the heater is operating is about 99 degrees F. This keeps the entire pool at about 84-86 degrees in the shade. Everything was purchased at Home Depot and cost about $50. Now my Wife and I can get into the pool with an "Ahhhhh" instead of an "OOOOOOoooo".
Full Port Kerotest Weldball Provides Optimum Flow. (Advertorial: 2002 Pipeline & Gas Journal's Capab
The Kerotest Weldball, an all welded body quarter turn floating ball valve, used with confidence for over 17 years by the gas industry, eliminates valve maintenance and lubrication in meter and regulator stations. With its variety of end configurations, size range (3/4" through 12") and pressure classes (Class 150, 300 and 500 WOG), the Weldhall has also been used successfully for above and below ground requirements. The Weldball is an excellent choice for any application that demands a positive shut off with no routine maintenance.A TURN FOR THE BETTER.Boasting the highest flow of this valve type (the reduced port valve up to 21% better than similar designs), Weldball design improvements include a cast steel Ultra Stop Actuator and a Stop Collar that replaces the shear pin.The Ultra-Stop features unmatched shear torque. If over-torqued, Ultra-Stop breaks clearly from the operating square, preventing any valve damage. Additionally, all stop action occurs below the locking plate, where debris won't impede the 2" square from turning. The new Stop Collar eliminates the shear pin and simplifies stem packing replacement.[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] LARGEST FLOW BORE. HIGHEST FLOW.Full Port Kerotest Weldhall Valves, now available from slock in 2" through 10" sizes, offer a variety of end configurations and pressure classes (Class 150 and Class 300). have optimum Cv characteristics and, like their reduced port counterparts, are maintenance-free.Finite Element Analysis has shown the Weldball body is actually stronger than the adjoining pipe, yet flexible without deforming.High-pressure production air tests insure integrity and leak tightness. An ISO 9001 quality program assures a performance level you should expect from this employee-owned company that's been making valves for 90 year. For more information on Weldball Valves, call (412) 521-7263, fax (412) 521-5990 or visit us on the Web at www.kerotest.com Circle #167
How Often Should a Gas Hot Water Heater Be Drained?
Sorry, after reading your answers i have to respond. YES, do drain your water every two months. You have a hose bib on the side of the tank just for this purpose. With the water on, hook up a water hose to the hose bib and run the water for 60 seconds. If you have calcium deposit flowing out keep running the water until the water flows clear. The hose bib has a small opening for the water to flow through. The calcium may stop up the hose bib. The best way to drain the water heater is to remove the hose bib and replace it with a 3/4 in. ball valve. Install a 2in.x 3/4 brass nipple, a 3/4 in. ball valve and then a brass 3/4 mip x hose connector. This will give you a full 3/4 inch path way to remove calcium deposits from the heater. If you have ever made rock candy , that is what is happening in the bottom of your tank The heavy mineral lays in the bottom of the tank a turns into calcium deposits. Turn the water off first. Good Luck1. Plumbing: How to sweat (solder) a 1/2 inch ball valve?wet rag is the way to go2. I am installing a ball valve on the water line for the shower. PVC to metal, fitting won't seal on PVC. For compression joints there is usually an insert that goes into the the pvc pipe to stop it being crushed, then the compression joint works as normal4. I want to place a ball valve on my waterfall to lower the flow of water. Where should the valve be placed?Between the pump and the outlet. You do not want to restrict flow into the pump for fear of cavitation. PVC Ball Valve air rifle questions.?hi there in canada , at any big truck tire repair place they have tire valves that are like bunker fittings, that is to say a valve that has a threaded bottom end with nuts and rubber washers, you would drill the appropriate size hole in the pipe and put the valve through and tighten the nuts up against the washers making an air tight seal, that should work for you if they have them in au, good luck11. would installing a brass ball valve against direction of water flow affect it's volume? If you mean a 1/4 turn ball shutoff valve, they are not directional - there is no such thing as backwards for 99.95% of them (and for 0.05% it might make some difference in potential for a leak when closed, but none to water flow when open.)
How to Atomize Water with Pressure
There are many practical applications for atomizing water with pressure. These include hydraulic and air atomizing systems. Hydraulic spray systems apply pressurized water to nozzles for many different applications and include evaporative cooling and the spray of pesticides or liquid fertilizers on crops. Air atomizing systems, in contrast, mix air with water to create fine droplets or fogs for humidification and cooling purposes. Each type of spray system has specific nozzles and pressure requirements in order for the atomization to occur properly. Knowing the amount of water delivery that is needed is the first step in designing a water atomizing system.Determine the amount of water delivery that is needed. For humidification systems, the amount of water delivery is based on the volume of the area of the room or building that is heated by an HVAC system. Calculate the square footage and the ceiling height of all rooms in the building. Tables can be found on the Internet that have this information. For example, a 1,000 cubic foot room requires from 0.5 to 10 gallons per day of water for humidification. There is a large range because the amount needed depends on the tightness of the building's construction.Select the type of nozzle that fits the needs for water consumption. Manufacturers have nozzles listed either by gallons per day or gallons per hour. Make the conversion to gallons per day if needed. Find the required air pressure and purchase an air compressor that provides both the adequate pressure and volume needed for atomization. Purchase the miscellaneous supplies that are needed to install the nozzles and mount them where needed.Assemble the atomization system. First assemble the tubing needed for the water side and the water strainer. Install the nozzles into fittings provided in the tubing. Include a ball valve for cutting off the water supply for maintenance purposes. The air line after the compressor includes the following components, in order: air filter, pressure regulator, solenoid, and switching relay. The switching relay is attached to the humidistat, which turns on the system when the humidity is below the desired set point. After the solenoid, a T is installed. On the downside of the T a ball valve is connected for draining and maintenance. On the upper half of the T fitting, the pressure lines connect to the air side of the atomizing nozzles.Mount the pipe or hose assembly into the area where the atomized water is to be applied. Mounting systems will vary, perhaps including pipe hangers or mounting along a pipe inserted into an air duct. If the system is being mounted onto an air duct, make sure that the insulation is replaced to prevent air leakage.Install the humidistat and connect the wiring to the air solenoid. Connect the power to the humidistat and turn on the water supply to the nozzles. Check the system for proper operation and cycling. For verification of humidity settings, use a sling psychrometer or a hand-held humidity tester.
Installing a Ball Valve on a Coleman Cooler
In this instructable, I will show how I installed a ball valve on a Coleman cooler.A cooler with a valve installed is the first step in building various equipment for homebrewing beer. Once the valve is on, this cooler can be made into a mash tun or a wort chiller. This instructable is meant to be the first step in my following instructables on how to build these. This will allow you to drain liquids from the cooler at a controlled rate and will be simple enough to disassemble and clean.Rule # 1 on making equipment to make some tasty homebrew is to have a tasty homebrew! Please note: Have all of your materials on hand ahead of time. You don't need to be driving to the hardware store after following the golden rule. For this, I used a second-hand Coleman cooler. The plug was broken and it wouldn't hold water anymore, but it's perfect for this since I'll be removing that part anyway. Most homebrewers brew beer in 5 gallon batches. Make sure the cooler is big enough. If not using a new cooler, try and pick one that is clean, smooth on the inside and free of cracks. Since the cooler in this instructable already has a plug hole drilled into it, I will not be covering how to drill a new one since it isn't necessary.I began by removing the 4 screws that held on the lid of the cooler. With the lid temporarily removed, it won't get in the way.The plug assembly on the cooler consists of a stem, a rubber washer and a nut on the outside. They need to be removed and cleaned. Simply unscrew the outside nut, push out the stem and pull out the washer.I modified the outside nut a little bit by cutting off the plastic part that holds the plug. I also widened the inside hole with a knife, cutting carefully to only shave off some of the threads. Here are the parts I used to make the new ball valve assembly:- (1) 3/8" brass ball valve- (1) 3/8" brass hose barb adapter- (1) 3/8" brass coupling- (1) 3/8" x 1-1/2" brass pipe nipple- (1) 16mm flat washer (it fits over the pipe nipple)- (1) huge washer (this is not the technical term)- 3/8" clear tubing (I had this already)- the modified outside nut on the coolerThe tools I used to install it were just a pair of wrenches. These parts cost me about $18USD.Start by putting the rubber washer that came on the cooler back in. Put the outside nut back on the cooler. Discard the stem as it will not be used.Next, screw the pipe nipple onto the ball valve. Take the huge washer and place it over the outside nut. Slide the pipe nipple into the cooler through the washer, outside nut and rubber washer. The other end of the pipe nipple should be visible on the inside of the cooler. Slide the 16mm washer over the pipe nipple and make sure the threads of the pipe nipple are visible.Tighten the pipe coupling onto the threads of the pipe nipple and snug with a wrench. This should make the cooler water-tight again. Now put the hose barb on the other side of the ball valve and that's it.Installing this ball valve is the first step in making my mash tun and wort chiller.By itself, it doesn't do much, but it will allow me to fit my coolers with a ball valve ahead of time and simplifies the whole process. Now, I have the 3/8" female end inside of each cooler and I can use it to build off of while I design the components of my two tanks.
Avoid Leaks at the Bottom of Your Water Heater: Upgrade Your Drain Valve
Many water heaters come with a drain valve that has a cone shaped handle. They spell trouble. Other makers of water heaters have a plastic faucet type drain valve. This type of drain valve is prone to breaks and leaks. The better types are the brass hose bibb, not unlike the average garden hose bibb. Even better would be brass ball valve. This type of drain valve would have a lever that can either be open or shut. The brass ball valve allows the most effective flushing of the water heater. On most residential water heaters a 3/4 inch brass gate valve can be installed. Ball valves allow the largest opening for drain valves which gives you the best flushing of the inside of the drain valve. Shutting off a ball valve is as easy as moving the lever 90 degrees. A hose bibb has to be turned around and around. Also know that an adaptor piece must be installed that goes from 3/4 pipe thread to 3/4 hose thread will be needed. Now you have the brass ball valve which is the least likely to clog of all the drain valves. If the brass ball valve cannot be installed, the second best is a brass hose bibb.Plastic cone valves and plastic faucet valves drip, freeze inside, and clog with sediment the easiest. Plastic threads are very easy to cross when you wish to attach a garden hose to the drain valve. Even after opening a plastic valve one time, using it and closing it back up, the valve may drip. To remove the plastic cone valve, unscrew it from the water heater by turning it counterclockwise while pulling it out. Six turns will probably be sufficient. Then turn clockwise and keep pulling. Wrap teflon tape around the protruding nipple. Now install the brass ball valve. In order to avoid being sprayed with water while installing the new drain valve, first cut off the water supply at the cold water inlet near the top of the water heater. It is the pipe on the right side as you are facing it. Now open a hot water tap somewhere inside the house; any sink will do. Make sure the hot water tap is closed once water stops flowing through. That'll keep any air from entering the lines. This relieves pressure off the lines and will allow the drain valve to be replaced without emptying the water heater. Make sure nobody is using any water while you are replacing the drain valve. Also turn the gas to pilot or pull the electrical plug if electric.A pint of water or less may come out of the water heater after all the preparation has taken place. Avoid being scalded by running a tap in the house for five minutes before beginning this entire procedure. The cold water entering the water heater will lower the temperature inside. Be prepared to begin the procedure quickly right after though.Remember, adding a brass gate valve can be used to flush the tank and keep it clean of sediment. A sediment free tank produces hot showers.
